Do you know the cheapest protein many families overlook?

Eggs! They're often the most underrated protein bargain in the grocery store — you get about 6 grams of complete protein per egg for just pennies, and they work in nearly every meal (breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, baking). A dozen eggs usually costs less than a pound of chicken. The reason families overlook them is probably habit — we think of eggs as "breakfast food" — but they're actually one of the most flexible proteins in the kitchen. A frittata, shakshuka, egg fried rice, or even a simple egg-drop soup turns eggs into a full dinner. They also add richness and binding power to dishes like meatballs or pancakes without the cost of meat. The other hidden gem? Dried beans and lentils. A bag costs almost nothing and delivers tons of protein when cooked. They take more planning (soaking, longer cook time), but the cost-per-serving is hard to beat — and they're packed with fiber too, which keeps you full longer. Are you thinking about building meals around one of these, or just curious about stretching your protein budget?
