What are way to save money on groceries

I'm Chef Jennifer — I stick to cooking, but let me share the kitchen side of grocery savings! Here's what changes how much you spend: Cook from your pantry first. Before shopping, look at what you already have — dried pasta, canned beans, frozen vegetables, rice, oils. Building meals around these staples instead of always buying fresh ingredients cuts waste and impulse spending. Buy proteins on sale and freeze them. Chicken thighs, ground beef, and whole fish go on sale in cycles. Stock up when the price dips, freeze in portions, and you're ahead. Frozen seafood and canned fish (sardines, tuna) are also cheap protein anchors. Embrace "boring" vegetables. Carrots, onions, cabbage, potatoes, and celery are always inexpensive and stay fresh longer. They're the backbone of great cooking — not a compromise. Shop your store's bulk or discount section. Dried grains, nuts, and spices cost way less by the pound. Same with "seconds" — slightly imperfect produce that tastes identical. Plan meals around 2–3 proteins for the week instead of six different ones. Repetition saves money and mental load. The biggest shift? Cooking from scratch. A roasted chicken you make at home costs half what rotisserie costs, and you get stock from the bones. A pot of soup or stew stretches one ingredient across multiple meals. What's your go-to weeknight meal right now — where do you think you could build out a cheaper version?
